Aniimo System

Legendary Capture & the Legendary Aniipod

Legendary capture was rebuilt between the closed beta and the launch build, and the studio was unusually candid about why. In the beta, meeting a Legendary Aniimo meant throwing ball after ball at it while paying an entry cost each time, and Pawprint's own verdict was that stacking randomness on repetition turned a legendary encounter into a draining chore. The replacement removes the lottery entirely. You collect legendary tokens through ordinary play, world exploration and story progress rather than through a dedicated grind, so progress accrues while you do everything else. Those tokens let you craft your own Legendary Aniipod, and crafting it unlocks that Legendary's exclusive story. The encounter itself then appears on the map as a scripted event: you enter a battle, follow the story through, defeat the Legendary Aniimo, and throw the Aniipod you built to seal the bond. It happens once. There is no second attempt and no reason to farm one, which is the entire point of the redesign. Irisalis is the first Aniimo to use this flow, and the studio has stated it is the template for every Legendary Aniimo to come, which makes it one of the most consequential design changes in the launch build. What is not published: how many tokens a Legendary costs, which activities drop them and at what rate, what level or party the scripted battle expects, and which Aniimo count as Legendary beyond Irisalis. Those are the numbers a guide would need, none of them exist in an official source, and this page will carry them when they can be verified in play rather than guessed before launch.
