Yes, it’s free-to-play: you never pay to catch a creature. The studio said it on stage at Summer Game Fest, "your Aniimo are caught, never pulled," so officially not a gacha. Console pre-order packs and the shop only sell cosmetics.

PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, live since 16 September 2026, plus Xbox Cloud Gaming from day one. iOS and Android followed on 23 September.

On PC, the official site hands you a launcher that installs and then updates the game: 40 GB, an SSD is recommended. On console, pre-download unlocks once you’ve bought a PS5 or Xbox pre-order pack.

From the official redemption page or the game’s Settings menu, paste the code and confirm: rewards land in your in-game mailbox. We keep the active code list current the moment a new one drops.

Two optional packs, PS Store and Xbox only, sold until 16 September 09:59 (UTC+8): the Advanced Edition ($9.99) gives a platform-exclusive accessory (Fluffy Friend on PlayStation, Doggo Dude on Xbox) plus a pass with a bonus Prismana egg. Nothing is required to play: the base game stays free-to-play, and there’s no pack on PC or mobile at all.

Depends on the piece: some are handed to you from the start (the base "A New Journey" outfit), others are bought in the shop, drop from a pack chest, come as Battle Pass / event rewards, or unlock at Research (dex level) and Egg Heist rank milestones. Every outfit, hairstyle and accessory traces to one of those sources: none are random.

"Glimmer" is community shorthand for the official Sparkling: an ultra-rare per-creature variant. An Aniipod Ultra or a Sparkling Cube guarantees the catch, and since the launch update, the Sparkling Cube also guarantees Perfect Potential. The "pre-unlocked rare trait" rumour you might have heard has no official source.

No, two separate rarity axes. A Sparkling is a 1-in-20,000 shot. An Umbral (the old beta "Darkler") is actually more common, 1 in 3,000, but its Innate Potential is always guaranteed Perfect. The catch: that dark appearance is lost for good the moment the creature evolves or changes form, only the Perfect Potential stays.

No more repeat-throw RNG: you collect Legendary tokens through world exploration and story progress, craft a personal Legendary Aniipod, unlock Irisalis’s exclusive story, then a scripted encounter appears on the map: one attempt only. The studio names this the template for every future Legendary.

Every creature carries a Potential grade on its six stats, in four tiers: Common, Good, Elite, Perfect. Per stat, Innate Potential (rolled at catch) plus Acquired Potential (upgradable) can never exceed 20. An Aniipod Ultra guarantees at least Elite; a Sparkling Cube now guarantees Perfect.

4: that’s the Battle Party, capped at 4 slots by the game itself (the loadout tutorial says so verbatim). The exploration party is capped at 3.

The mechanic that lets you literally "become" your Aniimo to travel using its abilities: fly, swim, climb, under the official tagline "Be One, Be All."

Per-creature training from level 20 to 60, consuming Basic, then Standard, then Advanced Astranites as you progress.

Your personal farm and base: crops, crafting, a caravan you expand over time. Since the launch update it spans a multi-area map with house building, and Aniimo working there get idle AI and a petting interaction.

No: the 3 September launch letter says it plainly, the rune system is removed entirely, random slots on carried items are gone in favour of a simplified item system. If an older guide still mentions runes, it’s describing the beta.

A real-time 3-player PvPvE mode: infiltrate a forbidden area of the Lost Isles, gather supplies, and try to seize a coveted egg before other teams, with a risky evacuation. Since launch: more egg types and a new, much harder Chaos Mode.

Yes, the account is cross-platform: mobile and PC/console share the same progress. That’s the whole point of the Boundless Twining event, running continuously since 23 September.
