Where the game puts it
Magmarex never roams the open meadow. The game only puts it underground: all three in Breezy Plains stand in one big cave, and beating the Alpha there is what lets a Lavazar evolve.

The cave lies about a hundred metres under the ground around the Hot Spring Reef teleporter. The Alpha's pin does show on the in-game map, and once you are inside, the map switches to an underground layer. -
The game gives the cave two ways in and out: one near the Zephyrus Landbridge teleporter, one near the Hot Spring Reef teleporter. Switch on the Underground chip on our map to see what is down there. - Over a hundred blocks of Lava Crystal, Destructible Rock and Destructible Rubble fill the cave. They can be broken, so if a passage looks shut, try smashing through.

A campfire stands about fifty metres from the Alpha. It is the fight's respawn point, so a defeat puts you back close by. - The Alpha heats up as you fight. At 50 % and again at 80 % heat, hit it with Water or Ice attacks to cool it down. Once it overheats, its ATK soars and its Water resistance drops.
