Aniimo Starters: Lunara vs Helion (What's Actually Confirmed)

Aniimo's two special starters (Lunara and Helion) compared honestly: what's officially documented, what's reported from the beta, and why the 'five starters' you've seen on YouTube isn't a thing.

✓ Beta-verified

Read this first. Two creatures (Lunara and Helion) sit outside Aniimo’s numbered roster: they’re the game’s two special starters. The public index still has no dedicated page for either, but both are confirmed in the current beta build, where the character-selection screen (“Choose Your Aniimo”) lets you pick one. The core facts below (element, combat style, evolutions) are confirmed in-game; a few finer details (like exactly how the opening choice plays out) are still only reported from the beta, and labelled that way.

Community = reported from the Global CBT / outlets, not yet in the public index.

What’s actually confirmed

  • Aniimo’s numbered roster is 90+ Aniimo and growing (browse the full Aniilog), with the full launch line-up officially teased at 200+ capturable Aniimo.
  • Lunara and Helion are not in that numbered list. They’re the two special starters, catalogued as #9997 and #9998, and both are confirmed in the current beta build.
  • The public index has no dedicated page for the pair yet, but both appear in-game with full kits, and they share an identical statline (documented on our Lunara and Helion pages), so the choice between them is about kit, not stats.
  • Their evolutions (Lunara → Fennelun, Helion → Soleon) are in-combat transformation forms that last until the fight ends, not extra numbered dex entries.

Lunara vs Helion: the confirmed picture

Everything in this table is confirmed in the current beta build – element, combat style and evolutions all appear in-game. Exact numbers can still shift before the game leaves beta:

LunaraHelion
ElementLightLight
Combat styleRanged (large-area)Melee (close-range burst)
Evolves toFennelun (combat form)Soleon (combat form)
Feelrange + kitingup-close burst

So the choice isn’t about element (both are Light) or raw stats (their statlines are identical). It’s about how you like to fight: Lunara plays at range and evolves into Fennelun; Helion fights up close and evolves into Soleon. Those evolutions are in-combat transformation forms that last until the fight ends, not extra roster slots, which is part of why the pair sits outside the numbered list. See the full kits on the Lunara and Helion pages; roles in general are explained in the combat guide.

How the choice works

The character-selection screen (“Choose Your Aniimo”) is confirmed in the current beta build: you pick one of the two. Beta players and outlets add that it’s framed as an opening-quest moment where you meet two talking Aniimo and choose which one to save, with the other going to your rival Community. That narrative framing is corroborated across independent beta reports but hasn’t been stated by Pawprint, so treat that part as reported, not locked.

”Five starters”? No.

If you’ve seen a video titled “all 5 starters explained,” that framing traces to a single fan video and isn’t official. It contradicts the game itself, which offers a two-creature choice (Lunara or Helion). There’s no basis for five starters, so we don’t repeat it.

How to tell real from rumour

A few quick tests for this pair:

  • The pick is kit, not stats. Lunara and Helion share an identical in-game statline, so a “better starter stats” claim misunderstands the choice; the documented numbers live on the Lunara and Helion pages. Be more skeptical of a specific release date for either – there isn’t one.
  • Cross-check against the game itself. For the numbered roster, the Aniilog is the reference of record; the two specials are the known exception, confirmed in the beta build but not yet given index pages.
  • Beta facts still carry a launch asterisk. The pair is confirmed in the current build, but the beta wipes progress and values can shift, so treat any exact number as provisional rather than a launch-day plan.

Our take

Since both starters are Light-type and share the same statline, you’re not locking yourself out of anything by picking on vibe: range (Lunara) or melee (Helion). Your long-term team is built from the full Aniilog anyway, where every numbered Aniimo’s element, role and stats are documented (weigh picks with the tier list and map out a squad in the team planner). We’ve captured what the beta shows on the Lunara and Helion pages, and we’ll update the moment anything changes at launch.
